Here are some other things I’ve worked on, pet projects and itches that needed to be scratched..

Mojave Beacon West

Introducing the RMTV-AF-01: A rugged and portable analog TV transmitter, with built-in demodulator, amplifier, media player and antenna. An RG6 coaxial port on the side of the case hooks up to an external rack-mounted Blonder Tongue Laboratories AM-series AM60-550 agile demodulator for high-power wide-area transmission. The screen is an iPad allowing for local media transmitting, but also integrates with my Mac+studio for extended live broadcasts. The future is resilient - the future is analog.

Mojave Beacon West TV Ident

This project was born out of curiosity - I wonder if I can repurpose obsolete analog broadcast equipment that can be used on obsolete broadcast frequencies, to allow for local TV broadcasting-on-a-budget?

As it turned out, yes you can. I absolutely love the idea of using ‘dead air space’ to broadcast resilient signals, received by ultra-low cost analog TVs (that have no use anymore). There is a particular audio and visual quality that harks back to the days of stumbling onto mysterious broadcasts, early public TV channels, and the permanent analog hiss of detuned radio equipment.

The TV channel - MBW-TV - broadcasts to the Indian Wells Valley, and is programmed to play unique electric music pieces (that I have created) from my studio.
